I was not surprised to find out that the cinema house was jam-packed with a lot of people. This is not entirely unusual. I’ve seen people elbowing each other for a good seat even for a movie as flap and stupid as Anacondas, the Hunt for the Blood Orchid. Still, this just goes to show that the controversies caused by Dan Brown’s book is enough to drive people to watch The Da Vinci Code.
Honestly, I haven’t read the book, so in a way, I somehow lack the necessary equipments needed to really disect the film and prove its worth. The only thing that I am certain of is that I went there to test if the controversial claims of the book would somehow persuade me to believe that they are somewhat true. To my dismay, such thing didn’t happen. I went out of the cinema disappointed because there was no convincing evidence presented in the movie, except perhaps for the exact location of the Holy Grail, which is actually, Mary Magdalene, whose remains are now lying inside the “blade” pyramid of Louvre in Paris. But then again, I would only be convinced if someone would do some digging and exhibit the actual remains. Though, that must be wishful thinking.
Anyway, the anagrams, cryptex, and other puzzling stuff, have successfully got me glued into the screen.
This is what Jacques Saunière laid out on the floor to get Sophie’s attention:
13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5
O, Draconion devil!
Oh, lame saint!
P.S. Find Robert Langdon
The phrase “O, Draconion devil! Oh, lame saint!” translates to Leonardo da Vinci! The Mona Lisa!
SO DARK THE CON OF MAN
refers to Madonna of the Rocks, still Da Vinci’s work.
And,
The Holy Grail ‘neath ancient Roslin waits.
The blade and chalice guarding o’er Her gates.
Adorned in masters’ loving art, She lies.
She rests at last beneath the starry skies.
is the last riddle pointing the location of the Holy Grail — Mary Magdalene’s remains.
