I was dazzled with the visual effects, that’s why i wasn’t able to focus on the story very well. it was something about a doctor who planned to create a new civilization using a formula that could “miniaturize” living things. he devised such plan because of the failure of mankind to become good stewards of creation — pollution and all — so he wanted to go to some place safer in outer space and build his “new earth”. iniatilly there was nothing wrong with the plan though. it’s his plan so let him worry about it. however,it turned out that in the process of new-earth-creation, the good old earth has to be exterminated or burned to ashes…now that’s scary..and sky captain together with polly perkins, frankie and dex,should find a way to stop him…But then again,how can they stop or kill a man who is already dead 20 years ago?
the setting is on early 1900’s i think after world war 1. the movie offers a lot of different scenes…from grayscaled-metropolis attacked by giant robots…to eden-inspired landscapes…and even dinosaur-inhabited islands…they were good eye-candies…
i don’t know why but i feel that i wasn’t really drawn to the movie despite the fx…the effects are great…but something is telling me that the movie as a whole, still lacks that persuasive element that i was after…the acting was not bad either…but i just can’t give it a 5-star rating…something is missing but i don’t know what it is…
all in all, it’s still a good movie…
